Why Foam Roll?
Foam rollers are known to help reduce muscle and tissue soreness and tension. They also help increase flexibility, especially when used as a warm-up before exercise. In addition, foam rollers improve circulation to targeted areas.
Some evidence suggests foam rolling may also:
help joints move more easily through their full range of motion
support moving excess fluid out of tissues and into the lymphatic system.
enhance the ability to move while conserving as much energy as possible (an important benefit for anyone concerned with sports performance).
BUT IT HURTS!!!
Foam rolling is generally meant to feel like a "good hurt"—a deep, intense massage sensation, not sharp or unbearable pain. While it can feel uncomfortable, particularly over tight spots, the discomfort should decrease over time as tissues release. It is not designed to be an exercise in pain tolerance.
Sarah is certified to teach clients how to safely roll away pain without too much discomfort. There are modifications for everything. The goal is to have clients leaving class feeling light and free, with a brand new understanding of their body.
